This hostel is a bit more fun than the ones I’ve been in recently. Last night I was having a few cans and I got talking to a couple of Irish lads who have been living and working in Canada for the past year but are away home next week. I ended up going to a local bar (that played good music, I can’t remember the last time that was the case) with them and a couple of the staff here. Was nae bad, feeling a bit rough now.
So things are getting quite French now, I’ve already met a few people who don’t speak English at all and shuffled my way through the conversation. The girl in McD’s was determined to give me a strawberry sundae rather than the shakey-lait I was after.
Met another ‘Manc’ in the hostel. From Stockport. Dear oh dear.
Today I wandered along one of the main streets in Montreal for ages, Rue something or other. Full of strangeness and depravity.
The other thing of note I did was to go to the CineRobotheque which is a funny little cinema run by the National Film Board Of Canada. After 5 the first hour is free and then with a student card it was only 2 dollars for the 2nd hour. They have about 10,000 films to choose from, though a lot are shorts. It’s all low budget stuff you have never heard of but there was some interesting stuff. I opted for ‘Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows’.
It was a bit long but it was actually really intriguing, the life of the professional wrestler does not look a fun one. There were quite a lot of parallels with the recent Mickey Rourke flick. It also took me back to my youth with the likes of Shaun Michaels, The Undertaker and The Legion Of Doom all making appearences.
Same plan as last night for tonight; haven’t got one. Will just see what happens.

What is the picture of? Is it the Lurpak family as they have just spotted Danster with a Montreal panini and butter knife approaching?

It’s a sculpture called ‘The Illuminated Crowd’. It does have a Lurpak look to it though!
